Greeks who first founded this colony in around 730BC and to
the north of the centre is what is referred to as the archaeological
area, including the famous Greek amphitheatre where tragedies
are still performed today in the open air and in original
language.

Getting there
To organise a transfer from Siracusa Station or Catania Fontanarossa
Airport (40km away) go to the Des
Etrangers & Spa Hotel Siracusa Booking Office.
Otherwise, a taxi directly from the station shouldn’t
cost more than about €10. If you haven’t much to
carry, it’s a leisurely 10 minute stroll using the map
